Pub Standards

What’s Pub Standards? It’s a less formal, and infinitely boozy alternative, to the surfeit of Web Standards forums where likeminded web geeks can get together in a London hostelry and exchange ideas over a pint.

Where the worlds of web and booze collide, slap-bang in the middle of London. Arranging meet-ups, every now and then, where likeminded web peeps with sore livers can share these very special interests.

Why is this so great? Well, for me, because it combines two of my biggest hobbies but it’s a great outlet for web geeks everywhere (well London); it means we can talk geek stuff without alienating our friends.

More important still, it’s somewhere a geek can go and unashamedly talk tech with another geek. That’s its point; no need to keep trying to turn the topic to football or cars because that’s what people in pubs talk about. No, we’re here to enjoy a beer and talk about our hobby without fear of having the piss taken.

If only I could justify the Bristol-London return fare, I’d be there…
