Rarely has an expanse of fresh plywood made me smile so broadly. Adios, The Ranch. And good riddance. :oP

On the other hand, Dragon Kiss has just shut too, so it's not all good news...

Hey!

Did you realise that Dunedin is actually Gaelic for Edinburgh? (Hence also the Dunedin Consort.) I kind of assume people know that and then realise perhaps you need to have lived in Scotland.

But an interesting article here on how William Chambers (as in Chambers dictionary/ies) introduced the idea of the name for the Edinburgh of the South! http://www.nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/tei-Gov08_08Rail-t1-body-d8.html

I remember being struck by all the English street names in Christchurch and, in particular, the Avon river. Home from home!

Choir tour to New Zealand hey? Sounds fun.

What I found amazing about the internet - and it's something that still takes me by surprise occasionally - is that the converse is also true. However isolated and weird you might think that your own loves and hates might be, there are often tens of thousands of people who chime in perfect harmony with them, who would otherwise also think themselves alone in their strange depravity.

You like polishing pangolins with Lemon Pledge? There's a support group specifically for that, with wide-ranging activities across several continents. I expect.

"we went from east to west in a single afternoon’s lazy drive – can’t do that in many countries!"

Try Scotland around the Edinburgh-Glasgow neck of the woods! The weather is probably quite similar to what you were experiencing at that point as well!
