d.construct 2007 – if you can’t make it at least take a look at the website

d.constructAs Jeremy Keith recently pointed out, it’s redesigns a-go-go at the moment. A few months back Dave led the way (well what do you expect) with a Mezzo Blue redesign which just keeps me going back for more. Jeremy points to the Guardian redesign (is this the first UK paper to go css?) and his own band, Salter Cane and as mentioned in my last post, Stuff and Nonsense.

Side note: how chuffed am I that Andy dropped by to leave a comment? Well not nearly as much as I am intrigued about how he came to hear of it only hours after posted! Don’t think I trackbacked him…

And then there’s d.construct — “an affordable, one-day conference aimed at those designing and building the latest generation of web-based applications” — also recently reinvigorated with a fresh design. This site is just brill and its central premise is a lovely idea. Andy Budd says:

Because this year’s theme is “Designing the User Experience”, we thought it would be fun to mimic the user experience process and evolve the site over time. The site is currently in its wireframe stage, and will slowly progress as the event approaches.

I’m only sad that this means we won’t see the current incarnation for too much longer. It’s suffused with wry humour which gives an insight into the personality of the Clearleft gang. I particularly like “big web 2.0 compliant footer” which I intend to include in all of my wireframes from now on.

So even if you have no intention of attending d.construct this year, at least take a look at the site — in its formative way, a huge inspiration.
