The only Web 2.0 app you'll ever need… StumbleUpon
Want to find great websites? Want to read stuff on the web you wouldn’t normally think of looking for, let alone finding? Stumble Upon is for you.
StumbleUpon allows you to “channel surf” the web, serving you up all manner of content — pages, images, games and now video. It’s a vertiable treasure trove for the curious browser.
It’s a collaborative, bookmarking tool, presenting content to you which has been rated by others. Dan Sutch from Futurelab’s FLUX blog says:
“If you register, your ‘stumbles’ will take you to places related to your interests – but in ways that don’t necessarily fit your regular surfing/researching habits.”
But unlike other social bookmarking sites — Digg for example — sites that are highly rated continue over time, building up a more accurate catalogue quality web content.
A Firefox plugin that installs a toolbar in your browser for easy stumbling, seals this as the coolest ‘surfing aid’ — and probably most useful Web 2.0 app — I’ve found.
